To be a member in the Harp & Shamrock, Division 1, Greenville, SC, Ancient Order Of Hibernians (AOH), you need only be Irish by
birth or descent, a practicing male Catholic of at least 16 years of age, a citizen of the United States or have declared your
intention to be a U.S. citizen and filed the necessary application. This admits you to meetings, to share a pint or two at an
occasional party and involvement in the division’s cultural and charitable works.
Women seeking similar camaraderie and service may wish to join the Ladies Ancient Order of Hiberians (LAOH). They have comparable
requirements, but being the wife or mother of an AOH member or the mother of a LAOH member will suffice for not being Irish. Go
to: www.ladiesaoh.com or www.laohsouthcarolina.com. Nearby LAOH divisions are operating in Beaufort, Charleston and Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina and Augusta, Georgia.
To be a true “Hibernian” requires recognition of your heritage. It is to be joined in a bond of fellowship with your AOH brothers
based on our unique “Irish Catholic” heritage. We join together today to help each other as our fathers did and their fathers and
forefathers did before them.
